Volt Industrial Plastics may have officially opened our doors in 1992, but the story truly begins forty years earlier—across the Atlantic.
In 1952, company founder Joe Volltrauer immigrated to the United States from Vienna, Austria. Along with a suitcase of possessions, Joe brought with him a deep European work ethic and a belief that quality and pride should drive every job.
“Work hard and do it in such a way that you can take pride in what you do,”
— Joe Volltrauer, Founder, Volt Industrial Plastics
Joe began his career as an apprentice tool and die maker at Acme Tool & Die in Chicago. It was there that he discovered his passion for mold making—a craft he compared to sculpture. “It’s like an artist sculpting,” Joe often says.
Driven by that artistry and precision, Joe founded JV Tool in 1973. A few years later, he relocated to Arkansas, where his innovative molds helped plastic manufacturers improve quality, reduce costs, and solve complex production challenges.
By 1992, Joe saw an opportunity to take his expertise even further—by producing plastic fasteners himself. That vision became Volt Industrial Plastics (VIP). From day one, Joe infused Volt with his dedication to craftsmanship, efficiency, and exceptional customer service. He reinvested profits into cutting-edge technology—adding advanced computer-aided manufacturing systems and modern tooling equipment that set new standards for precision and responsiveness.
He also built a team that shared his values: people who care deeply about doing things right. Because at Volt, success has always been about people.
Today, Volt Industrial Plastics manufactures a wide range of products, including:
Plastic screws and nuts (standard and metric)
License plate screws and nuts
Christmas tree clips and rivets
Wire and cable routing clips
Printed circuit board hardware
Dowels, washers, spacers, and threaded spacers
Our aggressive tooling program continues to expand, introducing new parts and designs every year.
To meet growing demand, VIP recently expanded operations—adding over 35,000 square feet to create a 100,000+ square foot facility. This upgrade includes:
Additional warehouse space for raw materials and finished goods
Advanced production and tool-making equipment, including EDM machines, CNC-EDM sinkers, CNC milling centers, and CNC lathes
