In an effort to keep up with changing technology, Volt Industrial Plastics is in the process of updating hardware and software. To keep up with changing demands, we sent James Rowden, the latest addition to our CNC department for training.
In March 2016, James traveled to Owasso, Oklahoma, for training on the latest version of Esprit CAM (Computer Aided Machining) software. His training included the software enhancements for wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) and 2 1/2 axis milling.
With the older software, all SolidWorks models had to be converted to parasolids (a 3D CAD file type) in order to import them into Esprit. This latest version allows import directly from one to the other. There have also been a lot of other great improvements in the software, all of which James learned during the training.
James has been with VIP for about a year and a half. Much of that time has been spent working with Ron Schnakenberg who has been in Mold Design and CNC programming for over 40 years. One of his favorite things about working here is the friendly atmosphere. To quote him, "When you have people on your team with positive attitudes, it makes work more enjoyable!"
While James was hard at work learning the new software, his family visited the local zoo and aquarium in Owasso. They were kind enough to supply us with a few pictures.
